About Me and my Purpose

My name is Susan and I have two beautiful daughters. My hubs is fantastic because he supports my Child Development obsessions so how could I ask for more? Just as a reference, the names of my family in the posts will be Roses for my oldest daughter, the youngest is Sunshine, and the hubs is Superman.  We are a military family and have moved often. My oldest has special needs that I’ll get into that in other posts. If you’re in for a laugh or a cry you can read about Roses. She is hilarious, intense, persistent, and inquisitive. Sunshine, well, she brightens my day with her laid back happy go-lucky self. My husband truly is Superman, perhaps I’ll blog about his adventures every now and then.
I have my masters in Youth, Family, and Community Sciences and I am a certified Family Life Educator. I also have a mess of child development courses under my belt, (see comment about child development obsession above). I’ve worked mostly in Reggio inspired programs and I used to run my own Reggio Preschool program in my home. I take a relationship based approach, (or some may call it the attachment theory approach), when educating children and supporting families. If you follow my blog you’ll get to read about some of my failures and successes as I try to navigate this approach. I remind myself that each failure is a process to learn from. My posts will give you fun ideas for you and your kiddos, but most importantly, I hope to inspire PRESENT co-learning with your children and family.

  1. I’m excited for your next post! The Psychological side of child development has become a recent interest of mine! And hopefully this will be a weekly reminder to me to stay present when I’m with my daughter. It’s so easy to get caught up in our everyday junk and let it effect them even if we don’t mean to. I feel like I’m always looking for ways to be a better mom and I really like the theory you touched on here. Can’t wait!

  2. That was very well said I am impressed with your knowledge of child development and how your encourage children to be inquisitive and hunger to learn with a positive passion that they get from your skills as a teacher. Well done!!
